Rishabh Pant replied with a blistering century in the Test when even his place in the white-ball cricket team was questioned.  Rishabh Pant, with the company of Ravindra Jadeja, ran into the record book after scoring a century when India was crushed by a score of 98 -5 in the Edgbaston Cricket Test against England.

He scored the fifth century of his career and his third against England at Edgbaston.  Pant’s other two centuries were at the Oval last year and in Ahmedabad this year.

Rishabh Pant scored his fifth century in 89 balls, setting the record for the fastest century by an Indian wicketkeeper.  Pant surpassed MS Dhoni’s record of the 93-ball century against Pakistan in 2005 and he now becomes the first Indian wicketkeeper to score two centuries in England.

Pant scored his fourth century outside Asia against England.  In India’s Test history, only three centuries have been scored by Indian wicketkeepers outside Asia.  Vijay Manjrekar, Ajay Ratra, and Wriddhiman Saha are the only wicketkeepers to have scored a century for India outside Asia in Test history.  All the three scored one century each while Pant Scored Four Centuries alone.

Pant is also the fourth Indian wicketkeeper to score two centuries in a calendar year.  Budhi Kunderan in 1964, MS Dhoni in 2009, and Wriddhiman Saha in 2017 are the Indian wicketkeepers who have scored two centuries in a calendar year before Pant.  But if all of them scored centuries in India, Pant’s two centuries were abroad.

Pant smashed Jack Leach for a six and became the youngest Indian batsman to hit 100 sixes in international cricket.  The 24-year-old Indian Keeper – Batsman surpassed batting legend Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 sixes in international cricket at the age of 25.  Suresh Raina, who hit 100 sixes at the age of 25 years and 77 days, is third.  Pant is the second Indian player to have played the fewest innings to hit 100 sixes.  Hardik Pandya tops the list with 100 sixes in 101 matches.  Pant has hit 100 sixes in 116 matches.
