‘Universal Boss’ wishes to finish his career at home.

Universal Boss wishes to finish his career at home.

On Saturday (06.11.2021), West Indies batsman Chris Gayle was given a guard of honour after his team’s Super 12 match against Australia in Abu Dhabi. In the game, which Australia won by 8 wickets, Gayle struck a 9-ball 15. After the match, he raised his bat to salute the supporters in attendance and threw his signed T-shirts and gloves into the throng on his way back to the dressing room. He was also given a guard of honour by Aaron Finch and his teammates, giving supporters the impression that they were seeing the ‘Universal Boss’ for the last time in national colours.

Although he has not officially announced anything yet, it seemed to be his final game for West Indies. Also, he said his wish that he would like to play in another T20 World Cup,

He Said “I didn’t announce any retirement but if they actually give me one game in Jamaica in front of my home crowd, then I can say ‘hey guys, thank you so much. Well, I would love to play one more World Cup. But I don’t think they will allow me.”

He was just trying to enjoy the last World Cup. But it was a very disappointing world cup for him. However, situations like these do happen. But, it’s unfortunate that it happened so late in his career.

Gayle, who made his debut for West Indies in 1999, was instrumental in his team’s two World Cup victories. With an average of 28.11 and a strike rate of 137.31, he has 1,899 runs in 79 T20s. He has two centuries and 14 half-centuries under his belt. In the shortest format, he also took 20 wickets.

Gayle achieved 14,321 runs in 445 innings during his T20 career, including 22 century and a world record performance of 175 off just 66 balls for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2013 IPL season.

Anyhow, we all know who Chris gayle is and he is constantly making fans believe age is just a number. Now he is showing glimpses of rust but when on form he is still indestructible. All the accolades which he had done can’t be surpassed so easily. He had put down a legacy in big-hitting that will be carried and passed down by the coming generation of players.

He is planning to put a curtain on his illustrious career in Jamaica, his hometown. Which other place would be best to hang up boots other than home? So, now we can wait and foresee.

There are still many clarifications like will he retire from all formats or will he continue playing IPL and other cricket leagues.

Anyhow, we Fantasy Cricket League wishes him all the best in his future endeavours.

As we say every time, “ Everything is cricket here “
